Location: 730 Tacoma Road, Erie, PA 16510

+ 3,060 Square Feet of Additions
Completed: July 2002
Statement: Mr. Trott was not "Architect of Record" but designed and managed this project while a Project Architect at Thomas J. Freeman Architect PC.
Narrative: These renovations provided much needed space for a new Learning Center, improved facilities for both the Head Start Daycare and the YMCA After School Program areas, and added space for the on-site maintenance garage. The building front yard was transformed from a fragmented, utilitarian set of entrances into a welcome courtyard with simply designed concrete and steel entrance canopies at each program area of the Center. This effort was provided so that the community residents could feel a welcome sense of place and pride as they approached their Community Center. The courtyard design enhanced the building’s function by making it the visual focal point. The interior alterations focused on being practical and tasteful while providing adequate program space with accessible, durable and appealing design.
